Modern Horticulture Enrolment Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to enrolment in the Modern Horticulture program delivered by London College of Garden Design Australia (LCGD Australia).

By enrolling in the program, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

1. Course enrolment

Modern Horticulture is a 15-week live online education program delivered by LCGD Australia.

Places are subject to availability. Your place in the program is confirmed once LCGD Australia has accepted your enrolment and received either payment of the course fee in full or the first payment under an approved instalment plan.

No previous horticultural qualifications or experience are required to enrol.

2. Course fees

The Modern Horticulture course fee is $5,500 including GST.

All course fees, payment options and payment arrangements will be clearly provided before enrolment is completed.

3. Payment options

Students may pay the course fee in full at enrolment or, where offered, elect to pay by an approved instalment plan.

An instalment plan is a payment arrangement for the course fee. It is not a subscription or pay-as-you-go arrangement.

Where an instalment plan is selected:

  • the first instalment must be paid to secure your place;

  • remaining payments must be made according to the payment schedule agreed at enrolment;

  • students are responsible for ensuring their nominated payment method remains valid and has sufficient funds available;

  • changing or cancelling a payment method does not, by itself, cancel an enrolment or any amounts already due under these Terms & Conditions; and

  • all course fees due must be paid before a certificate of completion can be issued.

The complete instalment schedule and amount of each payment will be provided before enrolment is completed.

4. Failed or overdue payments

If an instalment payment is unsuccessful, LCGD Australia will contact you and provide a reasonable opportunity to bring the payment up to date.

If payment remains overdue, LCGD Australia may temporarily suspend access to live classes, course materials or online learning resources until the account is brought up to date or an alternative payment arrangement has been agreed.

Where payments remain outstanding despite reasonable attempts by LCGD Australia to resolve the matter, LCGD Australia may cancel the student's enrolment and take reasonable steps to recover amounts properly owing under the enrolment agreement.

Students experiencing unexpected financial difficulty are encouraged to contact LCGD Australia as early as possible. Any alternative payment arrangement is at LCGD Australia's discretion and must be agreed in writing.

5. Withdrawal before the course commences

We understand that circumstances can change.

If you need to withdraw before the course begins, you must notify LCGD Australia in writing as soon as possible.

Any refund will be determined having regard to reasonable costs already incurred by LCGD Australia in relation to your enrolment and the circumstances and timing of your withdrawal.

Where possible, LCGD Australia may alternatively offer a transfer to a future Modern Horticulture intake. Transfers are subject to availability and approval and cannot be guaranteed.

Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.

6. Withdrawal after the course has commenced

If you choose to withdraw after the program has commenced, you must notify LCGD Australia in writing.

Any refund or adjustment to remaining course fees will be considered having regard to:

  • the proportion of the program already delivered;

  • course materials and resources already supplied or made available;

  • costs reasonably incurred by LCGD Australia in providing your place in the program;

  • the timing and circumstances of the withdrawal; and

  • any amounts already due under the agreed payment schedule.

Where exceptional circumstances such as serious illness, bereavement or significant personal hardship affect your ability to continue, please contact LCGD Australia. Requests will be considered individually and supporting information may be requested.

Nothing in this section limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

7. Attendance and missed classes

Modern Horticulture is designed as a live and participatory learning program. Live attendance allows students to engage directly with lecturers, participate in discussions and group work, and learn alongside the wider cohort.

Students are responsible for managing their availability throughout the program and attending scheduled sessions wherever possible.

Failure to attend an individual class does not constitute cancellation of enrolment and does not automatically entitle a student to a refund or reduction in course fees.

Where recordings, notes or other learning materials are made available for missed sessions, their availability is at LCGD Australia's discretion unless otherwise advised.

Please also refer to Section 13 for the minimum live attendance required to successfully complete the program.

8. Course schedule and teaching staff

LCGD Australia engages practising horticultural professionals, specialists and industry leaders to deliver the Modern Horticulture program.

While every reasonable effort will be made to deliver the advertised timetable, subject matter and teaching team, occasional changes may be necessary due to lecturer availability, illness or circumstances outside LCGD Australia's reasonable control.

LCGD Australia may substitute a lecturer, reschedule an individual class or make reasonable changes to course content where required, provided that the overall nature and educational intent of the program are maintained.

Students will be notified of material changes as soon as reasonably practicable.

9. Cancellation or significant change by LCGD Australia

If LCGD Australia cancels the entire program before it commences, students will be entitled to a refund of course fees paid.

If circumstances require LCGD Australia to make a significant change after the program has commenced, LCGD Australia will work with affected students to provide an appropriate alternative, rescheduled delivery or refund where required.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes any remedy available under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Technology requirements

As Modern Horticulture is delivered live online, students are responsible for having access to a suitable computer or device, reliable internet connection and the online platforms advised by LCGD Australia.

LCGD Australia is not responsible for a student's individual internet connection, device failure or other personal technology issues.

11. Course materials and intellectual property

Course notes, presentations, recordings, photographs, teaching resources and other materials supplied as part of Modern Horticulture remain the intellectual property of LCGD Australia and/or the relevant lecturer or copyright owner.

Course materials are provided for the enrolled student's personal educational use only and must not be reproduced, distributed, published, sold, uploaded, shared with another person or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

Students must not record, reproduce or distribute live classes without permission from LCGD Australia.

12. Student conduct

LCGD Australia aims to provide a respectful and constructive learning environment.

Students are expected to behave respectfully towards lecturers, staff and fellow students and must not engage in behaviour that is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, disruptive or otherwise inappropriate.

LCGD Australia may take reasonable action where behaviour materially affects the learning environment or the safety or wellbeing of others. In serious circumstances this may include cancellation of enrolment.

13. Course completion and certification

To successfully complete Modern Horticulture and receive the applicable certificate, students must:

  • successfully complete two coursework assignments;

  • attend a minimum of 11 live sessions during the program, allowing for active participation in lectures, discussions and group work; and

  • have paid all course fees due.

Students who do not meet these requirements will not be eligible to receive the applicable certificate of completion.

Where exceptional circumstances prevent a student from meeting the attendance or coursework requirements, LCGD Australia may consider the student's circumstances on an individual basis. Any alternative completion arrangements are at LCGD Australia's discretion and cannot be guaranteed.

The Modern Horticulture program should not be represented as an accredited qualification unless expressly stated by LCGD Australia.

14. Privacy

Personal information collected during enrolment and participation in the program will be handled in accordance with LCGD Australia's Privacy Policy and applicable Australian privacy laws.

Information may be used where reasonably necessary to administer enrolment, process payments, deliver the program and communicate with students.

15. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
