Chin Liew Studio creates engaging, beautifully liveable gardens which connect architecture, homes and lifestyles to their locality.
With an inquisitive approach, Chin Liew Studio creates contemporary gardens with clean forms, interrupted by plants, framed with lusciously textured palettes.
Each garden is unique to the client and site, and we use a collaborative process to carefully combine materials and plants to create beautiful outdoor spaces that invite people outside to spend time in.
Chin Liew Studio also designs temporary or permanent garden installations for events and public spaces.
With previous experience in product development, strategy and marketing in the corporate sector, Chin Liew Studio can work with your brand to create an engaging space which aligns to your brand identity.
Clients include the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, where Chin Liew created the 2 Entertainment Stage Gardens for the 2023 Show.
I left the corporate world and graduated from the London College of Garden Design.
As the 2022 Emergent Designer winner at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, I was invited back to design and present the 2 Entertainment Stage Gardens at the 2023 Show.
I collaborate with clients, architects, landscapers and builders to create bespoke outdoor spaces.
An aspect of garden can be viewed from most rooms in this beautiful, newly renovated Victorian terrace. We created a welcoming front garden and side entrance, a relaxing upstairs terrace garden and a back garden perfect for spending time, entertaining or to enjoy gardening.
We used a planting palette with layered textures and a few bursts of colour throughout.

Emergent Gardens 2022 – Winner
“MOVING FORCES – The Great Pollinators”‘
With the given theme of ‘Pollinators & Pollination’, this garden examined the relationship between stillness and movement.
This concept can be used to consider the moving forces that are necessary for pollination.
MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW 2023 – Entertainment Stage Garden 1
‘Sound of Colour’ features a vibrant backdrop of colours moving through the rainbow, with colour-matched plants below.
The colours then spill around the beautifully lit entertainment stage featuring natural stone, and mix together to showcase an exciting range of multi-coloured plants.
A bright, playful bench provides seating for the musicians who will be performing during the entirety of the Show.
‘Sound of Colour’ celebrates the joy and energy that colour (and music!) can bring.
MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW 2023 – Entertainment Stage Garden 2
‘Colour Muse’ was of the two dedicated entertainment stage gardens which hosted musicians playing live music throughout the five days of the 2023 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.
‘Colour Muse’ was a stage from which performances were enjoyed from all directions. Lined with textured planting, a stage is circled by a rainbow of colour where the planting was mirrored around both sides of the stage and framed by a black steel pergola. Atmospheric lighting highlights the stage where musicians were enveloped by soft grasses and plants below, and hanging plants and lights from above.
‘Colour Muse’ celebrates the use of colour and texture to create a unique atmosphere befitting of the energy that music brings.
